About MPI

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) is the largest meeting and event industry association worldwide. Founded in 1972, MPI provides innovative and relevant education, networking opportunities and business exchanges, and acts as a prominent voice for the promotion and growth of the industry. MPI has a global community of 60,000 meeting and event professionals including more than 17,000 engaged members and its Plan Your Meetings audience. It has more than 90 chapters and clubs in 19 countries.

MPI Leadership and Governance:
The governing body of MPI is the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for reviewing and approving the organization's strategic plans. It oversees financial integrity and monitors performance against achievement of strategy and long-term vision. Members of the Board include the chairman/chairwoman of the board, chairman/chairwoman-elect, three (3) vice chairmen/chairwomen, immediate past chairman/chairwoman and twelve (12) directors. The current MPI Board of Directors will remain in office until June 30.

Each year, MPI members in good standing are eligible to submit an application to serve on the MPI Board of Directors. The call for applications opens in December and closes on January 15. By March 1 of each year, the Governance and Nominating Committee shall submit a slate of one (1) candidate for each vacancy on the MPI Board of Directors and each office of MPI. In selecting nominees, the Governance and Nominating Committee shall evaluate candidates to assure a balance of skills and experiences on the MPI Board of Directors.
