On April 6, 2017, leaders from across the meetings and events industry will come together to support the second annual Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID). GMID events will be held across the globe to demonstrate the measurable impact that meetings have on businesses, economies, and communities.

Speaker: Josh Packard

Title: Professor and researcher at the University of Northern Colorado, where he is also the Executive Director of the Social Research Lab

Session Title:
Conference Refugees: Why the Hallway is More Appealing than the Ballroom

Session Description:
We've all heard it. People say they get more from a discussion in the hallway than they do from the speaker. In this session, Dr. Josh Packard reveals the surprising findings from his own research about the changing nature of institutional participation in the 21st century. Book this session to understand why the future of your business depends on harnessing the power of the hallway conversation in a large audience.

3 Learner Objectives:

  1. Understand the emerging social trends that drive audience participation and retention.

  2. Develop powerful new methods for keeping audiences engaged during, and long after, an event.

  3. Generate effective models for increasing audience learning.
