The Awards Committee is thrilled to announce that our Annual Awards Banquet will be held on August 9th during our Annual Education Conference, August 8-10, 2018, at the new Virginian Hotel in Lynchburg.  The annual awards banquet is one of the highlights of the conference. We will recognize and celebrate our peers who have been dedicated volunteers and leaders, as well as past year’s sponsors and speakers.  We hope you will join us for an exciting evening of fun and networking!

We hope you will nominate in each of the categories above (and it is perfectly OK to nominate yourself). You must be a MPI Virginia Chapter Member to nominate or be nominated. Nominations will be open until 5:00PM June 27th and the top nominees will be announced in a call for votes July 2nd.  The final winner of each category will be announced at the awards presentation in August.

Member Spotlight

Penny Guiles, Convention Services Manager
Hilton Richmond Downtown

Best thing about job: The best thing about my job is all the people I get to meet. From my group contacts to the attendee's staying and visiting the hotel, My #1 goal is to make sure their meeting or event is extremely successful and that the attendees have a fabulous time while at our property.

Volunteer Positions: Director of National Events for Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority. I have recently been voted VP of Chapter Operations for the Richmond Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi International Business Fraternity.

Event Horror Story: I have been in my current position at the Hilton Richmond Downtown for a little over a year and a half and haven't experienced anything horrifying.

Hobbies: Love listening to music, trying new craft beers and traveling.

Husband/Wife/Kids/Pets: Randy Guiles, married for over ten years. No kids. Pets- Hermione and Minverva. And yes, they were names after Harry Potter characters.

Pet Peeve: people talking over others, I like Robert's Rules of Order lol.
