MPI VA Member to speak at MPI Potomac’s Mid Atlantic Conference and Expo (MACE) 

MPI Potomac’s Mid Atlantic Conference and Expo (MACE) 2017, is an educational conference and business forum for the meetings and events industry, presented by the Meeting Professionals International Potomac Chapter (MPI Potomac) on February 22 & 23, at Washington Hilton in Washington, DC.

MACE 17 will provide hundreds of meeting professionals from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond an opportunity to learn from industry leaders, advance their careers, impact their organizations. Education sessions will range from keynote presentations to full and mini concurrent sessions approved for clock hours. MACE 17 will also focus on building strategic business relationships in a unique formats of a “flipped” marketplace where planners host suppliers for pre-scheduled appointments, tech alley exhibitions, networking breaks and reception.

MPI Virginia Chapter member, Jeannie Power, CMP, DES will be speaking at MACE 17 on the topic of Gamification. Her session, "Keeping the Killers in Line: Event Gamification for All Attendee Types" will help planners discover techniques that can be applied to conference/event games that create an enjoyable experience for all player types.

MPI – VA Chapter Member Profile - Jeffery Metcalf

Name: Jeffery Metcalf

Organization: Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and The Colonial Williamsburg Hotel Collection which includes: The Williamsburg Inn, The Williamsburg Lodge, and The Williamsburg Woodlands.

Title: Director of Conference Operations and Special Events.  This includes a great team to plan and manage all conferences, catering, weddings, and donor events in all hotels and the historic area.                                                                       

Best thing about job: Working in a collection of hotels that have such a wonderful contribution of the Historic Area for all guests to enjoy the benefits of restoration, preserving, ticketing, and programming. All of our work goes back to restoring America. Our new mission just announced is: To feed the human spirit by sharing America’s enduring story.                             

Volunteer positions: James City County School System              

Event horror story: Having an event in the historic area and the truck arrives with the food…. Sadly, the carts and hot boxes were not secured to the inside of the truck.  Doors open…food everywhere!          

Hobbies: Cooking and Gardening

Husband/Wife/Kids/Pets: Wife Jennifer of 20 years.  Three children Kelly, Lilly, and Lewis.  Three grandchildren Sofie, Walker, and Hunter. 

Pet Peeve: When you commit to something, do it and do it right.

MPI Virginia makes donation to USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia

Thank you to everyone who donated snacks and toiletiriest to the USO of Hampton Roads and Centeral Virginia during the November 2016 MPI Virginia Monthly Meeting! We recently received a thank you letter from the organization that we wanted to share with you.
